How to organize your job search without a messy spreadsheet
Once you pass 20 applications, memory stops working. A small system saves you from double applying, missing follow-ups and forgetting who you spoke to.
Track only what you will use
Company, role, link to the posting, date applied, the resume version you sent, a contact name and the next action. Skip the rest.
Use stages, not notes
Saved, Applied, Screen, Interview, Offer, Closed. Moving a card between stages tells you more at a glance than a column of notes.
Give every job a next action
Each application should say what happens next and when: follow up on day five, prepare for Tuesday's screen, or wait. If there is no next action, close it.
Close things on purpose
After a second follow-up with no reply, move the job to Closed. It keeps your board honest and your energy on live opportunities.
A board that does this for you
Dayfive's job board counts the days since you applied and shows a Day five badge with a ready note when it is time. The free plan holds 25 jobs.
