How to write a thank-you email after an interview (with template)
A thank-you note is small and quick, and it gives you one more chance to connect your experience to what you heard in the room.
When to send it
The same day or the next morning. Send one to each person who interviewed you if you have their email. Keep each one slightly different.
What to include
Thank them, mention one specific thing you discussed, connect it to one real thing you have done, and close simply.
Template
Subject: Thank you — [Role] interview
Hi [Name], thank you for your time today. I enjoyed hearing about [specific topic]. It connects closely to my work on [one real result]. I'm glad to share anything else that would help. Best, [Your name]
What not to do
Do not repeat your whole resume, apologize for answers or ask when they will decide in the same note. If you hear nothing in a week, a short follow-up is fine.
