Retail follow-up
Following up on a Target application
A short, polite note five business days after you apply. Here is a template you can send.
Dayfive is not affiliated with Target and has no inside knowledge of how it hires. This is general advice for retail employers.
When to send
Five business days after you apply. One more note around day ten if nobody replies, then a short closure note and let it rest. Check your dates.
Who to send it to
Write to a store manager or the recruiting contact listed in your application. If you cannot find a person, reply on the thread from your application confirmation.
Template
Subject: Following up on my [Role] application Hi [Name], I applied for the [Role] position at Target on [Date] (job ID [Job ID]) and wanted to make sure it reached you. [One real result from your resume] lines up with what the team needs. Happy to share anything else that would help. Thanks, [Your name]
Tips for retail roles
- For store roles, a short visit or call during a quiet hour can work as well as email.
- Mention your availability, since schedules often decide hourly hires.
- Keep it under 80 words with one ask.
